It just so happens that we’re hiring 25 new tutors this year (2016/2017). Click here to get involved!
Each tutor works with 4-8 students over the school year in total: but 1:1 or 1:2 in each session.
Reading Results tutors meet with students 1:1 and 1:2 30-minutes per session, three times each week, for thirty weeks — throughout the school year.
Tutors will work with students throughout the entire school year (i.e. 30 weeks).
Formerly known as Portland Reading Foundation (PRF), Reading Results was founded in 2000. Read more about our history.
During the 2016/2017 school year, Reading Results will serve 620 students in the Portland metro area.
Ah, let us count the ways! Those interested in donating can choose from employee giving plans, monthly donations or one-off contributions. Oregon’s own Fairbridge Foundation and The Larry and Jeanette Epping Family Foundation will each match your donation, regardless of the amount. You can donate right here on our website.
Children who cannot read at the third-grade level are four times less likely to graduate from high school. The situation is even more dire for children who are low-income and children of color, as those who are unable to read at the third-grade level are thirteen times less likely to graduate high school with their peers.
The Centennial School District, Reynolds School District, David Douglas School District, and Portland Public Schools all partner with Reading Results to improve reading proficiency for children who are low-income and children of color. See the full list of our school partners here.
We believe that every child, regardless of race/ethnicity or socioeconomic status, deserves a fair chance at a bright future. Reading Results is committed to promoting racial equity and partnering with students and communities to ensure all students have the reading skills needed to be successful in school and beyond.
